  Very poor, improper, service. Must be asked identification in order to browse for items. My parents went into the store and were not informed of this "snatch and grab" policy, and had left. I spoke to the manager about this situation and had told me he was "glad she did it" instead of apologizing in place of the jewelry consultant for not correctly handling the situation--which is to explain why this policy is in place. Instead, this makes the customer already feel a suspect of stealing in a store (especially for a person of colour). Apparently this policy is implemented for any item over $1,000. Michael Hill, if you truly ask every customer for their ID, I will get rid of this 1 star. I highly doubt you do as I assume your stores get very busy. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other businesses like Peoples that do not require ID just to shop around. I recommend you shop there instead.
